Miramar High School Assessment Rubric

Criteria
Brief & Specifications        (5 points) X Design brief, with no specifications or no problem statement (0 points) Design brief, but inadequate or minimal problem statement    (2 points) Developed design brief with clear and comprehensive specifications and clearly stated problem (5 points)


Research          (10 points) X Little or no evidence of investigation or research (0 points) Some evidence of research about the problem, but lacking depth (5 points) Evidence of good research that the student has acquired new knowledge about the nature of the problem, what others have done to solve similar problems, and gathered information critical to the succes of the project. (10 points)


Ideation            (10 points) Only one solution considered (0 points) Two or three solutions generated, but only one solution seriously considered (4 points) At least three solutions generated, but reason for rejecting alternatives unclear (7 points) At least three solutions generated, two seriously considered with reason stated for rejecting others (10 points)


Developmental work                   (10 points) Little evidence of developmental work (0 points) Some developmental work of average quality  (3 points) Good quality developemental work, including sketches; dimensioned drawings and models where appropriate  (6 points) High quality sketches, drawings, rendering and models with attention to aestetic, materials and assembly (10 points)


Testing             (10 points) Product not tested (0 points) Product tested, but no presentation of results (5 points) Product tested with weak presentation of results (8 points) Product tested with good presentation of results (10 points)


Evaluation        (10 points) No evaluation written (0 points) Poor evaluation with little thougt, intelligent comment, or self-criticism; or containing unjustified self congratulation    (5 points) Good evaluation containing self-criticism where appropriate. Suggestions about possible alternatives which, if followed, could lead to improvements of the project (8 points) Good evaluation containing self-criticism where appropriate.
